Bishop White House

During the daytime, the Bishop White House is just one of many historical landmarks in Philadelphia to visit. However, things become more creepy as the sun goes down. Constructed in 1787, the Bishop White House was a home for local rector for decades before Yellow Fever wiped out most of his family. Today, people claim male and female ghosts, along with a mysterious cat, haunt the premises.

Washington Square Park

Originally a burial ground in the 18th century, Washington Square Park holds the remains of thousands of victims of yellow fever and soldiers from the Revolutionary War. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and its nameless occupant haunt the square. One of the many lost soldiers roaming through this Philadelphia landmark that has seen so much misery.

What to Expect on Your Philadelphia Ghost Tour

Embark on an investigation into the depths of Philadelphia’s dark past and discover hair-raising stories of America’s founders doomed to roam Philadelphia’s streets forever. The city is rife with the persecuted souls of a burgeoning time that was just as dark and demented as it was promising. Famous figures whose spirits still linger on the cobblestone roads include Betsy Ross, Edgar Allan Poe, and Alexander Hamilton. These passionate figures and their concentration of energy have poured endless amounts of ghostly energy into the City of Brotherly Love.

Back in the late 1700s, when death was occurring nonstop due to the War and Yellow Fever, many public spaces were dug up as mass graves for the unwanted to be tossed aside. In 1793, Philadelphia was decimated by an epidemic, which took 5,000 of Philadelphia’s 50,000 residents. Many families abandoned the city due to this ravenous disease. Still, many prominent doctors remained behind to help care for the sick. Join Philly Ghosts as we explain the many ghost sightings in the old colonial homes where many infamous doctors and patients lost their lives.

Philadelphia’s bloody past has left behind some spirits who would like a different ending to their life story. Many of the bodies buried in mass graves were commonly referred to as “strangers” to the city at the time – African Americans, suicide victims, prisoners of war, and victims of smallpox. Experience how these forgotten bodies like to make a name for themselves by leaving the grave at night and haunting the town.
